Ladies Bowls

Ladies League table and  results.

The Ladies B team recovered from last week's defeat by beating Coleford by 6-2.pts.

Rink 2. Lorna Archer,  Carole Glass, Wendy Campbell and Gill Johnson had a struggle with the length but still managed to share the number of ends won and were only 3 shots down at the 15th end but then dropped a five and although they won the final 2 ends by 3 shots, lost by 18-13.

Rink 3. Alison Marriner, Angela Slim, Jan Mundy and Pat Bearhad a close encounter up to the 10th end but always kept ahead, but a three at the 11th end and a 6 at the 14th end gave us a good gap of 11 shots and we eventually won by 20-13.

Tewkesbury 33-31 Coleford.   Phew, close but a win is very welcome.

The Ladies played Cheltenham Spa in the Top Club competition away this afternoon and came away with a convincing victory.

In the singles Marion Haynes won easily by 21 -10 after 17 ends. She won 11 of the ends and was never put under any pressure.

In the pairs Jan Bradshaw and Jackie Hughes came up against a pair including Pam Margrett (ex Tewkesbury) and put in a credible performance, including making a 6 on the 5th end, However they dropped 5 (a 2 and a 3) on the 15th and 16th end which made all the difference and finally lost 15-18. We won on 8 of the ends.

In the triples Lorraine Berry, Gill Johnson and Janet Bishop had a very close contest up to the 11th end when we were 1 shot behind. However we picked up an incredible 14 shots to 1 over the final 7 ends to run out 21-11 winners. Won 11 of the 18 ends.

In the Rinks match Suzanne Payne, Sue Yates, Rowena Capper and Sarah Vincent got off to a slow start but by the 9th end had edged in front and then picked up 12 shots to 3 over the remaining 9 ends to run out 21-10 winners and also won 10 of the 18th ends.

 Well done our Tewkesbury Ladies.

Well our ladies got off to a bad start to the new season with both teams losing their matches away from home.

The B team played Glos. City and representing Tewkesbury on rink 1 were Lorna Archer, Jan Hirons, Pat Bear and Gill Johnson. We got off to a slow start but by the 12th end had got it back to 10 shots each. However we then lost on 5 of the final 6 ends to lose by 16 shots to 11 and by 11ends

On rink 2. Alison Marriner, Angela Slim, Jan Mundy and Carole Glass got off to a bad start and were 6 shots down after 3 ends. However by the 12th end they had got it back to 11-11 but then dropped 3 shots in the next end only to get them back in the following end.

Going into the final end it was level at 15 shots each but Tewkesbury dropped 4 shots on the end to lose 15-19.

Both rinks won on 7 of the 18 ends and the overall score was Tewkesbury 26- 35 to Glos. City.
